Duckie Lucky
Dear Rotorua SPCA Team,
My name is Duckie and I was a rescue kitten. About 6 months ago my mum picked me up off the side of the road and put me in a box. When I would try to escape my fur would get stuck to the tape, however the box and tape was no match for my Houdini skills and I managed to escape only to find this massive furry creature in the back of the car named Sassy, so I tried to hide under her furry tail so didn't go back into that stupid box. When we arrived at the shelter I was put back into the awful box and taken into the SPCA Shelter were I meet the lovely girls at the reception, one said that I sounded like a duck! I didn't think so, I knew my voice was a little scratchy as I was very sick but I still think it was more of a lion’s roar then a squeaking duck. Then the Ladiess at the shelter put me into a cat cage. They talked a bit and later made a decision that the box lady (Mum) would foster me. They took me to the vet and gave me medicine which made me feel way better, I got feed, drunk clean water and was kept warm. It was about a week later that my mum came to collect me from the shelter to take me home, thank goodness she brought a nice cat cage this time, my furry large creature was also there waiting for me in the car. Once I arrived in my new home I found that sleeping on the large furry creature was very comfy and warm, but once I got too big for her, I stole her bed as mine wasn't as large and man was I growing fast. Sassy and I became best friends and we love to chase bumblebees together. I later had to go back to the SPCA to be desexed and microchipped so I would never be lost again. It was nice to see the ladies at the SPCA again, but I did want to go home. Once I had recovered from my surgery, my foster mum came back to collect me but this time she adopted me and she became my mum, and I became an official member of the family. I'm very happy at my new home and love climbing trees, exploring through the forest and gardens. I even help mum at work, Funny enough I now work mainly in the box department, my official job title is 'nuisance', I believe that is a very important position . I just wanted to say a massive meow thank you to all the staff at the SPCA for saving my life and not giving up on a sick little kitten, and for giving me the chance to have an awesome life. I'm just greatful that you are all strong enough to cope with this tough and stressful job. It’s because of you guys that more animals have a second chance in life, like me. Well I better go for my ninth sleep today.
Best Fluffy Paws Regards,
Duckie Lucky
